What type of activities are fun and recreational?

How do we take our children away from Gadgets and get them interested in activities which are fun yet useful for learning and all round development?

Are our kids lagging behind?

Australia is a great place for allround development of children. They get allround exposure and tend to grow up as balanced individuals. However, many children are not upto speed with subjects like maths and english which are the foundation for success in academic life? What could be the reason for this?
